From launch to orbit
A reflection on the past few months of 2020
I wasn’t sure what to expect when launching code:words, but I did know that I wanted to create a space for writers in tech to share, learn, and practice their craft. Needless to say, in spite of the chaotic mess that was 2020, I was buoyed by the community support and enthusiasm for this publication. Initially, the goal was to post at least one article a month as we figured out our process, but you all showed up and delivered more than twice that amount — a million thanks to our amazing authors 🙏. In case you missed them, here’s a quick recap of what we’ve been up to these past few months.
- Design Evangelist John Maeda reflects on the power of good writing
- Tanya Grant shares why to approach every problem as an expert beginner
- Andrew Astleford takes you behind the scenes of a major product change
- Jonathan Foster highlights the importance of emotional context in UX
- Noah Fulton Beale reveals the six steps to ensure your microcopy resonates
- Jody Allard demonstrates three ways to design experiences that build trust
- Sara Schlagel shows you how to build a solid UX portfolio in five steps
If you’d like to contribute an article, we’re always on the lookout for more writers and words to amplify! Be sure to check out our submission process to learn more.
Cheers to 2020.5! 🎉
